Challenge
Booking a doctor's appointment is still, for most people, a phone-tag problem — call the office, get put on hold, find out later the provider doesn't actually take your insurance. The client wanted to remove that friction entirely, but doing it right meant solving several hard problems at once: matching patients against thousands of constantly-changing insurance plans with real accuracy, syncing live availability from providers who use dozens of different practice-management systems, and keeping the whole thing trustworthy — verified reviews, real doctors, no fake availability — at a scale of millions of monthly searches. On top of that, the provider side needed its own product: practices needed a way to actually fill their calendars, not just get listed.
The idea
Build two products in one: a consumer-facing search-and-book experience simple enough to use in under a minute, and a provider-facing operations layer robust enough for large health systems to run their scheduling through. The two sides had to share the same real-time availability data without either one becoming a bottleneck for the other — patients needed to see only real, bookable slots, and providers needed changes on their end to reflect instantly on the patient side.

Project
DevBrother built the core matching engine that reconciles patient insurance data against provider-accepted plans in real time, along with the search and booking flows patients use to find and reserve appointments by specialty, location, and coverage. On the provider side, we developed a practice-management integration layer that syncs live calendar availability from multiple third-party scheduling systems, plus an admin dashboard practices use to manage their listings, respond to reviews, and track booking volume. We also built a verified-review pipeline that ties every review to a confirmed completed visit, and delivered EHR integration endpoints so larger health systems could connect their existing patient records infrastructure without custom one-off work for each new partner. The system is designed to handle traffic spikes gracefully, since search volume is highly seasonal around flu season, open enrollment, and the start of each year.
Results
The platform now runs as core infrastructure connecting patients to in-network care, with DevBrother continuing on as the team's long-term engineering partner across both the patient and provider sides of the product.
